I’m always trying to decide whether Cillian Murphy is hot or not? But, that’s only one of the many questions posed in Leo’s new one, called Inception. Basically kiddies, I have no idea. Chris Nolan managed to make it real pretty and Leo is getting his scowl on, that’s about all I can see. Ideas?

Martin Scorsese has done it again and made top box office this weekend with his man crush Leonardo DiCaprio. As we all know by now, Shutter Island is based on the book of the same name written by Dennis Lehane. I read the book a few months ago and as much as I love Scorsese, I kept my hopes on this flick rather low. Scorsese is the perfect director for this physiological twist of a movie, although his choice for using DiCaprio AGAIN is disappointing. DiCaprio did a fine job at the role, but come on; he can’t do a Boston accent…or any accent for that matter.

Set in 1954, a young-ish U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a female patient from Boston’s Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. He brings his new partner Chuck along (Mark Ruffalo) for the investigation. There are so many unanswered questions that Teddy has and the hospital staff isn’t going out of their way to help. During all of this a hurricane hits the island and they lose all communication to the mainland. Teddy starts to question the true meaning of the hospital, his loyalty of his partner and his sanity as he starts have crazy dreams.

Overall, I really enjoyed the movie. There were times that the scene was a bit overdone or the music was very ominous when it wasn’t necessary. I was very happy that Scorsese did stay true to the book for the most part. Bottom line, if you like the type of movie that leaves you with several questions at the end, this is for you. You won’t know what’s coming until the last 5 minutes. True Scorsese style.

We’re most likely probably maybe are going to have a guest blogger for a review of this one. This guest has read the book and we’ll tell us if Martin Scorsese and his mistressmuse, Leonardo DiCaprio did justice to his adaptation. I’m probably the one woman on the planet who doesn’t get the Leo thing. I don’t think he’s hot and I don’t think he’s that great of an actor, he’s ok, but the whole fan fair, I don’t get. It’s not like he’s Johnny Depp.

I’m still not fully on board with Leo in a horror, because I’m still jaded about Secret Window, Johnny Depp’s half-ass return to “horror”, so can Leo pulls this off? We shall see , I guess. Yes, I know Johnny and Leo have nothing to do with each other, but it’s the way mind works. Anyway to refresh the noggin, here’s the story:

It’s 1954, and up-and-coming U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Boston’s Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. He’s been pushing for an assignment on the island for personal reasons, but before long he wonders whether he hasn’t been brought there as part of a twisted plot by hospital doctors whose radical treatments range from unethical to illegal to downright sinister. Teddy’s shrewd investigating skills soon provide a promising lead, but the hospital refuses him access to records he suspects would break the case wide open. As a hurricane cuts off communication with the mainland, more dangerous criminals “escape” in the confusion, and the puzzling, improbable clues multiply, Teddy begins to doubt everything – his memory, his partner, even his own sanity.

You are now re-entering the Twilight Zone
We are reportedly getting to return to the Twilight Zone. Variety reports: Warner Bros. and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way are moving ahead on a “Twilight Zone” movie, hiring Rand Ravich to pen a script based on the iconic TV series, which melded fantasy, science-fiction and horror elements.
Studio first set up the project with the Warner-based shingle a year ago.

Ravich’s feature credits include directing “The Astronaut’s Wife” and exec producing “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.” He also created NBC’s detective series “Life.”
This does not bother, actually I’m a bit happy about it. I loved the Spielberg/Landis version from the 80’s, I still sit by the wing of the plane to look out for gremlins. Hey can’t be too careful,

Children of the Corn remake comes to SyFy

US cable network SyFy is set to air a TV adaptation of Stephen King’s horror Children of the Corn.
This comes as the NBC Universal-owned network announces its latest fall schedule, which also includes a number of original TV movies including Eliza Dushku-fronted film Open Graves, WST Productions’ Lightning Strikes featuring Andromeda’s Kevin Sorbo and Matador Pictures’ Book of Blood, written by horror guru Clive Barker, who wrote films including Hellraiser and Candyman.
Children of the Corn, which is produced by Fox TV Studios and Starz-owned Anchor Bay Entertainment will air in September and will star Heroes’ David Anders, Dexter’s Preston Bailey and Battlestar Galactica’s Kandyse McClure. It will be directed by Donald P Borcher, who was a producer on the original feature film.
I must be in a kinder place today, because this does not bother me either, it could be as good as the original, which honestly wasn’t that great in the first place.

First off I have never, never understood the appeal of Leo, he is pretty much the same dude in every movie and he always has this grimace like his eyes hurt. Shutter Island also stars Sir Ben Kingsley and Mark Ruffalo! I have to say I’m not a huge Scorsese fan either, but I like the looks of this one. But, it is really reminiscent of 1408 and Secret Window. Enjoy!
