First off Sam Raimi owes us all big time for that mess that was 13 Fear is Real. Does he redeem himself? I’m not so sure, I wanted to love, love this trailer, but imo it’s just lukewarm. It’s Raimi’s first directed horror in a loooong time. He took time off the do the Spiderman’s.

loan officer (Lohman) ordered to evict an old woman from her home finds herself the recipient of a supernatural curse, who turns her life into a living hell. Desperate, she turns to a seer to try and save her soul, while evil forces work to push her to a breaking point.

Last Friday’s episode to which I just got around to watching, because I’m that into the show, was almost less boring than the last episode. After the boys completely punked out on their, ‘Let’s scare the girls’, plan, the fear-testants were told to gather their belongings and off s haunted high school.

Now can I just say – nice! Has anyone noticed abandoned schools in general are spooky regardless of the history of the school? Seriously, there’s nothing scarier than a school at night, and if you add 20 years of decay the spook value ups itself. Moving on. We get a back story about a serial killer offing a bunch of co-eds back in the day. The fear-testants are told to go to each classroom and find the class ring of the victims. There were clues written on each chalk board to the location of the ring. Of course, there was some creepiness involved with each room. For instance, there was room where there were masked mannequins. Again, nice!

Well, I gotta say I think Cody’s Hair had what seemed like the easiest clue of everyone and one by one rings were found. I have to also put it out there in the universe I think Erica cheated just a bit, but it’s dog eat dog, so whatever. For some odd reason Ted decides to play hero and helps Melissa find her ring. He says it strategy, which means he’ll probably be going home soon. This leaves Rodney and Leah without a ring, and off the execution they will go.

Meanwhile, we find out that Rodney has the deathbox. Honestly, I thought he had it, the whole red herring treatment they were giving Ted last week was too easy. Anyway, he recounts how he got the box, etc, etc. And even attempts to off someone but missed his opportunity. The execution involves once again, untie your hands before you are cut in half by the giant swinging ax. Rodney actually broke his tooth, but still went to his demise.

Friday:
A Deal with the Devil: The contestants move to a slaughter house where they learn the identity of the killer. Now that the death box is up for grabs, everyone is on edge as they watch their backs. When the new killer attempts to eliminate a teammate, the would-be victim tries to form an alliance for protection.

Friday’s episode of 13 Fear it Real, was a little better than Wednesday’s but not much. I’m trying to stick it out until the end, but they are determined to not that an easy feat for me. Perhaps, I’ll get a $66,666 check as well at the end of the season.

This time around we are still playing a game of let’s guess who has the deathbox and all the boys seem to think Erica is Freddy Kruger. But, again through some creative editing the show seems to want us to believe Ted is doing his best Bundy impersonation. I’m still not sold on that, because again too easy. Also, on the episode it was moving day and the fear-testants leave Jason’s cabin behind for new digs, deeper in the woods.

This time they upgraded to an Hollywood stagedabandoned military fort. I like it. I like it a lot. We get some back-story about the fort about how the previous occupants during the civil war turned to cannibalism to survive the harsh winter. Yum! Although, if they are in the bayou as we’ve been told, it ain’t getting quite that cold where you couldn’t like off a gator or skin a snake or something to eat if you had to, but it’s a cute little bullshit back-story for our contestants. And, it certainly added some ambiance, right?

The challenge sent each of our fear-testants looking for a key to unlock a box that held a reprieve from that night’s elimination challenge. Of course, there were alligators and maggots, and bloody lungs, set up around the area. Yes, bloody cows lungs, again yum! This time around Erica and Kelly both proved to be too slow and they are sent to execution.

The execution was a little better, than the last, but not much. Each woman was literally to be burned at the stake, all Joan of Arc style. They were told get the words on the lock right and you are free to go. The walls of the fort had different words written on them. Turns out these were clues as to how to unlock themselves from the burning stakes. Kelly apparently wasn’t paying attention because she was burned alive. One again Eric returns to camp, much to the guy’s dismay.

I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to watch this show as a whole, and tonight’s execution challenge sounds terrible. The last two standing with have to face down rats! Just from the preview they look like big sewer dwellers, and I got to just say no! This is why I steer away from any show involving nature. I could go a few rounds with Freddy, no problems, but a rat, mouse, squirrel, chipmuck, it’s a no go for me.

Question for you guys. Why on earth would anyone come on a reality challenge show and you can’t swim? I mean really? They are bringing you into the woods to camp at a lake, and you never considered there being a challenge involving water. Really? Enjoy!

Ok, so it didn’t make me want to run out in to the woods and play, but I didn’t get overly annoyed at the badness, so it’s a good thing. One thing that comes to mind when I watch any type of reality show, is who’s there to win and who’s trying to become the next famewhore. And ding, ding, the famewhore actually was the first to get it. Bye Lauren!

Ok, granted hanging out in the Bayou is scary, I’ve done that and I hate nature, so I get it. But, did they really think they were going to be staying at the Ramada, so I didn’t understand the screeching and freaking out when they got to the lovely blood stained, shitastic cabin. I think Jason sublet for the summer, because that’s what it looked like to me. I knew from Cody’s bio he was going to be the one to watch. Plus he has hot hair. Not really, but it’s going to be fun to watch the Mohawk die a slow death out in the woods.

Anyway, we meet or hear the Mastermind’s instructions for the first challenge, which was a pretty good way to start. The challenge consisted of splitting a set teams up, one was bound and gagged in the woods and their partner had to rescue them and both had to make it back to the checkpoint. The last couple standing would face off in elimination. The last in this case was Kelly and Lauren.

We are also introduced the Death Box. Whoever posses the box gets to play killer. Well, Steffanie was the first to get it, and completely freaked out over the responsibility and she put it back. DUMBASS! I would have never returned that thing! But, did she go back and retake it? That’s the question? Could she be smarter than I think? We shall see.

The elimination (execution) challenge consisted of being buried alive and the first one escaping their faux grave wins. Can I just give Lauren some advice; always use your legs when trying to get out of coffin?

Overall the show wasn’t like change your life tv. Jeff Probst is not in any danger of losing his job and honestly Total Drama Island is better. But, Fear is Real didn’t annoy me too much. I can’t make any promises that I’ll be watching next week, because there is supposed to rats, and I don’t do rodents! YUCK, plaque carrying vermin need to be destroyed!

Next week:
The Accused: When one competitor wrongly accuses the killer, the mastermind punishes the contestant, putting everyone on high alert. This week’s ritual finds contestants struggling to stay afloat. Two enter the execution room and get up close and personal with some rats.

Are we excited? I am, because with the exception on Nip/Tuck I have been relegated to watching Family Guy marathons, because I have absolutely no tv to watch. I guess Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice count as well, but they’ve been sucking lately so I tend to forget about them.
