Ok, a few weeks ago I gave away three copies of Silent Venom to people that made comments on certain posts. I was all ready to use this nifty little random selection software, but since I only had three responses the selection process was easy.

In celebration of HorrorFatale.com’s 1-year anniversary on July 15th I will be giving away 2 DVD copies of the original 1980 Prom Night. Why Prom Night you ask? Because it was one of the first horror movies, I ever saw. Yes, I was four when it was released, but in parent’s defense I saw it on cable the next year when I was like five, so there.

In my humble opinion last season of Dexter turned out to be a big yawn. I mean they turned him into a breeder, something he should never do considering he is nuts and so was his brother. I mean not the best genes to be passing along. But on to more important news, the fabulous John Lithgow will be joining the cast next season, playing the latest serial killer.

I seriously don’t think any writers returned to work after the writers’ strike, because Hollywood has officially run out of ideas. There are no more, because we are now getting a “reboot” of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

This time even Joss Whedon had the sense to just say no. Whedon will not be involved in the project. Good for you Joss. Someone has some dignity. According to the Hollywood Reporter, “Buffy” creator Joss Whedon isn’t involved and it’s not set up at a studio, but Roy Lee and Doug Davison of Vertigo Entertainment are working with original movie director Fran Rubel Kuzui and her husband, Kaz Kuzui, on what is being labeled a remake or relaunch, but not a sequel or prequel.

While Whedon is the person most associated with “Buffy,” Kuzui and her Kuzui Enterprises have held onto the rights since the beginning, when she discovered the “Buffy” script from then-unknown Whedon. She developed the script while her husband put together the financing to make the 1992 movie, which was released by Fox.

Kuzui later teamed with Gail Berman, then president of Sandollar Television, bringing back Whedon to make the TV series, which was produced by Fox TV and launched on the WB in 1997. Kuzui and Sandollar received executive producer credits on “Buffy” and its spinoff, “Angel.”

The new “Buffy” film, however, would have no connection to the TV series, nor would it use popular supporting characters like Angel, Willow, Xander or Spike. Vertigo and Kuzui are looking to restart the story line without trampling on the beloved existing universe created by Whedon, putting the parties in a similar situation faced by Paramount, J.J. Abrams and his crew when relaunching “Star Trek.”

I’m still not into loving this movie, but whatever. There are some of you out there that dug the first one so; you are probably looking forward to the sequel. So, here ya go, a big ole clip. Also, Rob Zombie and an actress from the movie give us commentary. Riveting stuff I say.

And then the clip ends with the trailer where we see Michael has now become a schizophrenic who talks to his dead Mum, like I don’t know, Jason Voorhees. How original. Enjoy!
