The Dark Path Chronicles – Watch It!

I have so much love and respect for Mary Lambert, because she is one the few badass chicks that are into horror. Lambert directed both Pet Sematary’s, Urban Legends 2 and some videos for Madonna and Janet Jackson (back when they were relevant). Mary’s a rock star! Anyhoo, she wrote and directed this little series of moviettes (my word for mini-movies) or webepisodes which can be found on Fearnet or via http://www.darkpathchronicles.com/index.html.

Your first assignment watch Path 1 and report back. We’ll discuss.

Here are the deathtails:

When Samantha, a teenager who hears voices, answers the call of a mysterious stranger, she finds herself drawn into a supernatural world of vampires, ancient conflicts and The Dark Path, an inhospitable environment where time and energy are distorted.

Entering into a life-and-death struggle between good and evil played out on the streets of Los Angeles and on The Dark Path, Samantha soon finds her own life, and the lives of her sister, Lisa, and friend and advisor, Father Raymond,
in mortal danger.

Jurgen, a rogue vampire who was “made” during the waning days of the Third Reich has just reawakened after 75 years. Calling Samantha to the urban wilderness of Griffith Park, he takes her captive and drinks her blood.

P.S. Thanks to ilikaofthelake for the fab tip!

Watched them all twice and I love the comic book feel and the whole LA thing. I have not been back to California since they put in those subways and I love the look of old Hollywood Bld. It just has such a vampire feel. I think the production value is really strong and it feels just a little like the old Vampire the Masquerade series in its campyness. What I imagine to be a modern sort of Dark Shadows. i whole heartedly agree with you on Mary – she is a great director and writer and artist in general. I loved Pet Semetary, we quote that on a daily basis here. I just discovered Fearnet – I have avoided it not wanting to picture Zombies at every waking moment – but lately I do not mind so much the mental imaginings of zombies at the frozen backdoor. I’ve been doing yoga – mabey thats it.
I watched the 30 days of night shorts first and have not watched the main movie but plan on that soon. Love that Fear and Indy Horror has its own channel. The music is really good in Dark Paths too. These seem to be straight out not so conflicted with their darkness “bad” vampires. I like it but I like Blade and Rice conflicted vampires, because they cling to their humanity.
