True Blood, Episode 12 “You’ll Be the Death of Me” Let’s Discuss!

This contains big time spoilers. If you haven’t watched the episode, I am advising you turn back now.**
Well folks, that’s it, no more True Blood this year. But, they did manage to go off in a blaze of glory. Well, Bill did anyway. More about that later. I was wondering what kind of finale they would have, and they decided to go old school Dallas style. Let’s make t-shirts Who Killed Whoever That Was? Or Who’s the Body? No takers.

We started the episode with Stupid Hot being really pathetic and giving away all his possessions to his family and friends, because he truly thinks he killed those people. Maybe, next season Jason will have a clue. Did anyone see the telling shot when Sookie showed up at the jail? Sookie made the proclamation that she was this close to solving the murders and they held the shot of Rene ever so long. And for the first time Sookie seemed to relish in her power and didn’t care if anyone knew she was hearing their thoughts. Good for her dumbass! My patience for Sookie waned a few episodes back.

Tara awakes at Maryann’s house, well mansion to find a delicious looking breakfast in a very opulent surrounding. I think I should have majored in social work. But, deep down we can see Tara knows something is really off about this place. She even says it to my new friend Eggs or Terry Benedict. Did anyone else enjoy the tall hot dude playing guitar? What’s his deal? This whole thing did gave Tara a chance to utter a pretty good line, “Collecting stray black people, that a hobby of hers?” But, I also have a question, why would Tara be homeless, she has a best friend who has a whole house to herself, she has a cousin who has a place and she’s sleeping with Sam, who owns property in town. This is a major plot hole they need to plug up next season. Hello Pig! Anyone know what she was doing to that pig in the backyard? And just like we figured out last week Maryann is the maenad. But what does she want with Tara? Did you guys see Karl the butler slip Tara’s phone in his pocket?

Sookie continued to be a total bitch to Sam for some reason. Did you guys catch her why didn’t you smell him comment? And Jason receives a visit from Orry, who wants to recruit Jason for the Fellowship of the Sun. Although we don’t approve of your methods, you did a good thing for your kind, he tells Stupid Hot. Ok, get rid of Orry, he’s a nut job and Jason doesn’t need anymore people telling him what to think, that always ends badly for him. Did anyone see Andy was a rock star for about a half a minute, because everyone in town thought he had caught the killer?

Can we please get more of Terry next season? He didn’t really do much but, I love his one liners, they are great. And, just as many of us already knew Rene was the killer. Rene was definitely someone with deep seated problems. Let’s see what we found out about him. First off his name was actually Drew Marshall. He wasn’t Cajun at all and he has a thing for strangling women with his belt. Nice catch there Arlene! Of course we had a great chase and stand-off in the cemetery, which ended with Sookie decapitating Rene.

Bill got really fucked up trying to save Sookie. He looked like burnt toast, now that’s love. And most importantly, did anyone catch Bill saying he fed, and low and behold Lafayette has been missing for two weeks. I smell a red-herring on this one folks. I don’t think Bill offed Lafayette. I’m standing by the fact I don’t think he’s dead!! He can’t be!!!! NOOOOOOOOO! Jessica’s back by the way and that spells trouble for Bill. And last but not least, Eric! Did you catch the Åh, du ljuva frihet from him? Translation, Oh, sweet freedom. Can he say more things in his native tongue next season, it will greatly appreciated by us all.

Only seven months to go until the second season starts. It’s been a joy discussing this with you guys. The show started off rocky and built up its momentum, to what I read today seems to be poised to overtake the high viewership of the Sopranos. Perhaps this means we will get more seasons in a timely fashion. Now, I’m off to read the first book. I hope some of you guys will join me in that. Thoughts, groans and moans? Theories.

I will leave you guys with these questions for next season:
Was that Lafayette or was it Lettie Mae’s body in Andy’s car?
Again, what does the Maenad want with Tara?
Will there be a love triangle between Tara, Sam and Eggs? Get it Sam and Eggs! Ha!
How does the Maenad know Sam?
What kind of trouble will Jessica get Bill into?
Will Jason become a vampire hating evangelist?
Will Arlene hook up with Terry?
And, where was Sam taking all that cash, and can I have a few stacks?

Good good good observations – I thought that chase scene between Sook and Rene was scary. The Razerback is most likely her familiar. it was all good that is for sure. I am reading the books too and can not wait to get your take on them!
Looking forward to more Eric and Pam.

Me too, I really like Eric’s character, I wanted more from here this season, but hopefully next year.

Lafayette goes after senator…..senator goes after Lafayette???????

I think that is definitely the deal, we’ll see I guess. I don’t think he thought that plan through.

Wow the last episode is still resonating in my mind.

I think that bag of money has to be for Maryanne, he either stole it from her or is going to give it to her to make her “go away”. Maybe Marryanne took him on like she’s taken on Tara. Maybe Maryanne is an ex of Sam’s, y’know hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, god knows when I’m pissed off I’m like a totally different person. So I could imagine she could be after him and since Tara is his lover she thinks thats the best way back ‘in’ so to speak.

Jessica is definitely going to try going after Sookie, and she might end up getting staked, or getting her ass wooped by Bill. I donno she just gives me a vibe that she needs to get her ass kicked pretty bad, and then she’ll straighten up and fly right.

I don’t think Jason’s gonna become a vampire hater, but you don’t ever know for sure. I honestly think he’s in the “Fellowship of the Sun” to find a group of people who are more stable than he is, I got this picture of half the things the pastor was saying were going in one ear and out the other.
I donno, Terry and Arlene? Terry’s pretty fucked up in a certain way, but he’d be a good and very sweet boyfriend, I’m pretty certain of that..
I donno, maybe “Eggs” and Tara are in some scheme of Maryanne’s, perhaps they will get together but I doubt there will be a love triangle.

It was definitely Lafayette’s body in the car, and it’s funny it ends up in a detective’s car. Typical politician, trying to scapegoat someone else into looking guilty while they stand in the background with big doe eyes going, “Awwe, what a loss to the world..”

Maybe Sookie’s character will start to mature a bit, now that she’s witnessed so much. Her quickdraw judgement and impatience with people has pissed me off a great deal I have to admit, I mean god the way she’s treated Bill so badly, after all that he’s done, y’know playing the tongue tangle with Sam after Bill practically does something way against his moral code to be with her, telling him she doesn’t want to see him after he goes as her bodyguard to Fangtasia. I bet next season she’s going to do it to him again, even after the charred toast bit he pulled trying to save her… I hate to say it but Bill’s a hopeless romantic, he tries so hard to be nice to everyone..

I can’t honestly wait for next season, I’m getting myself the book for christmas, and hopefully we’ll have a great time watching the next season as much as we did the first. It’s been great talking to you about this, and I hope we can again next time!

Great point about that money, I think you are right. Now that you mention it, it did appear that she might be a jaded ex-lover of Sams. Yeah, I just bought the set of books from Amazon, can’t wait until it gets here.

He is going to pay MaryAnne her tribute. I love the books as much as the show but boy Sunday night was *not* the same without it. Sadly.

I really hope that it’s Terra’s momma in andies car and not laffeyeet. I like his charector. Also Bill wouldn’t kill anyone like that.
If anyone killed laffeyette it is Jesica. More trouble for Bill. I hope fed on Jessica.

To really understand the complexity of this story you need to read all 8 books… the 9th book will be out in May of 09. I agree with a few things…like how infuriating Sookie is in the T.V. series….but if you read the books you might be more infuriated with the turn the T.V. storyline has taken period. As “they” say…the book is always better. I do love the characters chosen to portray Sookie & Bill…Eric needs a little help…he has the right build but the wrong face…Something learned in the book is that Eric is over 1000 years old and as a human he was a viking…his features are too delicate for a viking in the TV series. I am addicted to the books and I will continue to watch the show because I do enjoy comparing the two. I try to make up little stories that could possibly make them connect because it can be so infuriating when you realize how far off base the T.V. writers of the show have taken the story.
