True Blood, Episode 6 “Cold Ground” Review and Sneak Peak

Last night was a homerun!! The episode was called Cold Ground and it was for lack of better words brilliant. From beginning to end, the episode answered questions and asked new ones, but in a good way, not like that mess Lost tries to do. I can’t stand JJ Abrams. You’re on the list with Michael Bay, Abrams!

Anyway, we begin where we left off last week, with poor Adele Stackhouse lying dead in a pool of blood. No more kind words from Gran, no more delicious breakfasts for anyone. How sad. But, in true mystery mode, the show threw both of the number one suspects, Sam and Bill in the room together. Of course, Bill and Sam finally square off, which we all saw coming. Once the law dudes showed up, Sookie gets to hear all their thoughts which is mostly finger pointing at her and Bill.

There was a major hint drop of the killer’s identity done by Bill to the Sheriff, “Our killer seems to be targeting women who have associated with vampires.” Remember that folks, it’s important. I propose to you our serial killer was in that church during Bill’s speech. More on that in later posts. In true Southern fashion everyone makes it to the late Adele’s house to bring food and over their condolences to the Stackhouse clan. By the way, what the hell is tuna and cheese casserole? It sounds literally like a hot mess. And not unexpected Sookie hears that mostly everyone in town believes it’s all her fault, for hanging around that vampire.

The tear jerker moment also came when Maxine Fortenberry, attempted to eat the last pie that Adele had made. A second moment came when Poor Stupid Hot Jason arrives to work and finds out, Adele has been killed. He of course flies off the handle at Sookie and Officer Andy. Anyone else feels like they are dating Jason? Seriously, I’ve seen that boy’s butt so much on this show. Not that I’m complaining, because it’s an excellent butt, just an observation. I found myself not cringing as much as usual last night when Tara spoke, because she proved she is truly a loyal friend to Sookie. Two of the best lines were uttered from Lafayette and Tara. “This is not drugs, this is a valium.” And “We appreciate ya’ll coming out – Love ya’ll.”

And, on a superficial note – Everyone looked a beat mess at Adele’s funeral. I mean terrible, terrible outfits. I have never seen so much ugly at one funeral. Tara’s mother decided to announce she has a demon inside of her. Personally, I think it was that fugly flowered hat she was wearing it is the route of all her problems.

Now, to the nitty gritty of the episode. I wasn’t much into the Sookie and Bill love storyline, but last night this all changed for me. Although, I think there is still some serious shadiness going on with Bill, I enjoyed him this episode. There was some cool vampire lore thrown in where he literally heard Sookie in distress underground in his makeshift coffin. Sookie dressed in true Juliet fashion runs to her Romeo. And, they finally consummate their relationship and it was kind of hot, I must add.

Overall, this was dare I say it, the best episode of the season in my opinion so far. I would give it an 8.9/10 if I were rating it. Anyone, any closer to figuring out who the killer is? One small hint, it’s someone you like. Thoughts, groans and moans? Theories.

I will leave you guys with these questions for next week’s episode:
Can the demon be exorcised from Tara’s mom?
Will Sookie forgive Jason?
What exactly did Uncle Bartlett do?
Sam and Tara will their hookups become public knowledge?
Will Jason have sex in every episode?

P.S. The tank top shop is next door to the ugly flowered dress and hat store. I think they are running a sale.

It was the best episode of the season so far yes. I was shocked that she threw on that gown and ran to Bill in that manner. ButI guess it takes great grief to want something like that.

Tara’s mom must be going to some “hoodoo” or however it’s spelled, Doctor. No not voodoo. It’s said with an H. The funeral scene was comical, specially “Everyone just shut the fuck up
“. And I liked how Tara defended Sookie against Jason. The weird thing was the hands that Bill see’s in his dream look like Sam Marlotte’s. But I donno who specifically the killer is yet. It depends on where the directors took it. Even if they rely true to the book they might change what character is the murderer. Never know. I was an avid reader of the Harry Potter books and when I first saw the movies I noticed EVERY SINGLE THING they changed. And I’ve noticed thats just the directors’ way. I know it was quite suspicious that both those men showed up at the same time almost. But how protective Bill was of Sookie. I know he wouldn’t of killed Adele, Adele was kind and welcoming to him. And Sam might seem like a bit of a scallywag he’s not a killer I don’t think (Though the creepy sheet-rolling-sniffing thing…<_<) Anywho, having someone else to talk about this stuff with is awesome.
And the sex scenes get more frequent. Poor Jason, constantly naked or non-shaven and discombobulated. Whose gonna die neeext!

I think that they are leading us to believed that it is Sam…maybe too obvious. My question is “whats up with the dog”? I originally thought that he was connected to Sam in some way, but when he was with Bill outside Sookie’s house (which was very sweet in a weird kind of way) I started to think maybe Bill has him watching her to keep her safe. I think there is something not-so-human about Sam too, you know the barking in his sleep and the rolling in the bed thing is not so normal (ya think?). Well, this was by far my favorite episode…and Bill can bite me ANY day!!

I can’t wait to see what the actual deal is with Tara’s mom, and she acts like she’s been hoodooed, that for damn sure. But, I get the feeling Tara’s going to get hurt in all this.

Do you guys get the feeling Bill knows Sam is the dog? Did you guys notice that little exchange of glances in the yard?

And, I agree with you Meredith, Bill went and got all hot on us!!! The next show is going to rock.

I’m really going to read the first book after this season is over.

I’m excited to read the books now too. I have been an avid vampire fan for years. But never read a single book because some don’t always seem that appealing. This one however. I think will make me change my mind.

Normally I’m partial to blonde men, like alot of brunette women are. But I’ve found Stephen Moyer very attractive since the start of the season. There are rumors going around and even Pacquin’s wikipedia claim she and Moyer are dating in person.

Bill obviously knows that Sam is the dog, remember vampires have better senses, he can probably smell that the dog and Sam are the one in the same. And the first scene with Sookie and Bill outside after the Ratrray’s were sent off, “He’s checking on you..” Bill said.

I am curious if the other Collie that Sam calls brother is actually his brother who might not be able to turn back anymore? Sam is obviously not human. And him PRETENDING to be to Sookie and getting all angry with Sookie for kissing Bill, because Bill’s not like -them- even though Sam’s not like her either.

I want to steal Sookie’s nightgown from her, best outfit I’ve seen in the whole show. XD

You know, typically I don’t really watch TV that much..but I find myself counting down the days until this show comes on. I have NEVER been so addicted to a show in my life (it’s like crack).
Im starting to wonder if maybe the killer is Jason’s friend (I cant remember his name), that was with him the night that Jason had his escapade in the alley behind the bar. He seems to have a little trouble with the ladies and is just inconspicuous enough to make it a surprise…

  6. David says:

Doesn’t sookie become a vampire too now that she is bitten?

I think that later on in the seasons sookie’s “gifts” will make her
a major asset to the vampires to take over the humans… She will be one of the strongest vampires.

  7. HorrorFatale says:

I think we are going to find out later, that’s definitely the head vamp’s plan for Sookie.

  8. Meredith says:

I was wondering what Eric’s interest was in Sookie..well that really “bites” no pun intendend Ha…Anybody else besides me REALLY disappointed about the love scene between Sookie and Bill? Don’t get me wrong, I dont think it should have been a Jason-esc moment, but I was anticipating a little more “intensity” considering the sexual tension between the two of them. I was wondering if Bill would get carried away and be unable to stop once he bit her, turning her into a Vampire…maybe that is coming in future episodes. I hope it’s Bill that turns her into a Vampire and not Eric…that would “suck”..ha..sorry I couldn’t resist…

  9. HorrorFatale says:

You’re funny Meredith. I think (Hope) they do get more intense. I was thinking maybe he went all gentle and romantic because it was her first time. Then he might continue the gentle because he knows she was molested.

I do believe it she does get it on with Eric, those scenes might be HOT. Just because I think with him there will be no romantic feelings just lust.

I thought I should let you know that “peek” as it’s used in your titles doesn’t have an “a” in it :)

You’re right, Anonymous, I apologize for being a bimbo! I will correct it on the next one, thanks!!
